Damn innovation

Damn innovation

I believe it’s both healthy and necessary to occasionally put ourselves in our clients’ shoes—especially, and without any prejudice, those who haven’t yet had the opportunity to assess and reflect on the true VALUE that innovation represents today.

I know—when I tell a client, “It’s important and essential to innovate,” their micro facial expression often reveals their inner world screaming, “Damn innovation!”

Why? Because behind our word innovation, we aim to bring hope, open minds, and achieve a “win-win situation,” as the English say. But in many cases, what we end up bringing is uncertainty and confusion.

Yes, let’s admit it: “Innovation” by itself is a word that carries too much weight, tries to cover too much, and can overwhelm even the most motivated.

Why?

  1. Because of the belief that innovation means major challenges, high risks, and large investments—only within reach of a privileged few.
  2. Because of the belief that innovation inevitably means investing a lot of time, inventing something new, and “taking a chance.”
  3. Because of the belief that innovation can only be achieved by hiring (and retaining) top-tier talent.

And because if “innovation” is already repeated ad nauseam, “disruptive innovation” alone is enough to trigger anxiety attacks.

What do we need, then?

  1. To remember that innovation can also mean small daily challenges, with low risk and minimal investment, and within reach of many.
  2. To remember that innovation can be as simple as a minor improvement—a slight adjustment in a process that delivers high productivity impact.
  3. To remember that innovation can simply come from creativity, internal motivation and opportunity, and of course, the desire to do things better.

And finally, to admit that “disruptive innovation” was, in fact, coined to inspire fear and awe.

So, let’s explain to our clients that innovation can be as simple as adding a stick to a candy, gradually digitalizing production processes to become more agile and efficient, or going big and developing Blockchain solutions (yes, disruptive innovation).

Conclusion:

From large corporations to micro-enterprises, innovation is within reach for all—helping them become more productive, efficient, and ensuring long-term business continuity.

Let’s offer our clients support and guidance so they can, steadily and purposefully, integrate the true VALUE of innovation into the uniqueness of their company. GOOD INNOVATION.
